Where we started.....
It all started early in 2014, after my coming to Christ. At the time, I was a jerk, and my marriage was not only on the rocks, but Hurricane Cory was blowing and bashing us against the cliffs. I knew something had to change, and fast. I was raised Lutheran, and had joked that "I would never go to a church with a drum kit." Well, a close friend of mine invited me to a church called Vineyard Cincinnati. I thought, "Well, that would be a huge change."
My wife and I went one Sunday. I found out later that she was afraid that I would walk out at any second. I didn't......at least not until after the services. We would get there early to sit up front, not because I wanted to be up front to be close, but because I wasn't used to hand raising and praise and I was "getting used to" this new type of service. One Sunday, the band played "GOOD GOOD FATHER", and I couldn't control myself. I began weeping and had to sit down. When I did, no fewer than 4 separate people gently placed their hands on my shoulders and said, "There's a miracle working here." There was.....Right then and there I can truly say that my heart of stone was softened. I used to be angry all the time....for no reason....at no one specific....just everyone and everything. I began to find peace. I wanted more....and I thought a small group was the place to go.
I went to our small groups pastor at the time and said, "I a bunch of trucks in the parking lot with Real Tree stickers and Bass Pro Shops stickers every weekend. Is there a small group for guys that hunt and fish?" He said "No, you should start one."
Well, I did. In the beginning, I was Googling...."What to do in a small group." I had no clue. I was raised Lutheran and never had any experience with it. From there the group began, and began to grow....
We've gathered a great group of Godly men to work together, a band of Brothers....with a capital B because we are all Brothers in Christ.
We started supporting FHFH (Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry. Working together with that group we raise money, awareness, and harvest donations to feed at local food pantries.
We continue to reach "OUT" while always looking "UP" to our Lord.
